Mini prints for a rainy day ...

Introducing the latest arrivials to my Folksy shop ... sets of mini-botanical prints for smaller frames.

Tired of A4? Or limited wall space? These mini-prints are small but perfectly formed cyanotypes with a compact and bijou vibe.

The ones pictured feature ferns, spruce, angelica, buttercups and daisies, among other botanicals, all foraged either from my garden or hedgerows and woods in and around Kenilworth. They would look good at any time of year, given the mix of flora and foliage.

These are 9 x 14cm each to fit the standard 10 x 15 clear glass frames, but I can do other sizes as well. They come unmounted and unframed for ease of postage.

Each set is made individually using the traditional cyanotype method, involving coating watercolour paper with light-sensitive salts. When it’s dry, on goes the composition plus a spritzing of dilute vinegar and other substances to create the marbled background associated with ‘wet cyanotypes’. No two prints are ever the same, so each set will be quite unique. I can also incorporate any favourite flowers and foliage, providing I have them in stock – or perhaps you have something special in your own garden?

The day after New Year this year, I spotted some daisies in a field and couldn’t resist. The one with the daisies was one of my first cyanotypes of the year and something of a favourite. The buttercups were found in August and pressed and dried for a rainy day.

Looking at the weather this afternoon, this was a good choice.
