False. The Himalayan blue poppy isn’t really a poppy at all. True poppies belong to the 'Papaveraceae' family. The Himalayan blue poppy is actually named Meconopsis betonicifolia and is only referred to as a poppy because of its similar appearance.

7. When did blue Smarties come out in the UK?

1988 was the year of the blue Smarties, introduced as limited edition at first, but due to its popularity the blue sweet became a permanent colour in the range, despite issues with chemicals in the dye. Did you know that in 2008, the blue Smartie was reintroduced using a natural blue dye derived from the cyanobacteriumspirulina. Obvs.

8. The maritime Blue Peter flag is a blue flag featuring a white ship. True or false?

False. It’s a white square or rectangle on a blue background. It was originally a blue maritime signal flag meaning “outward bound”, flown to warn a ship's crew in port of an imminent sailing.

9. What was the home world of the famous blue aliens that made regular appearances in Star Trek?

The blue icy Class M moon, Andoria. Hence, Andorians.

10. The Hope Diamond is one of the most famous blue diamonds. Where was it mined?

The Hope Diamond is a 45.52-carat (9.104 g) diamond that was originally extracted in the 17th century from the Kollur Mine in Guntur, India. It is blue due to trace amounts of boron.
